It is important to understand this. Vulcanization accelerators are rarely used alone; they are mostly used in combinations of two or three accelerators. Once a problem arises, it cannot prevent rubber from burning. Generally, the main accelerators are general rubber types or sulfonamide-type accelerators.
In handling the mixture, 10-20 parts of general rubber reclaimed rubber are added, and the rubber formed after mixing has a scorch prevention effect. In addition, for the blend of materials, some research comparisons are made based on the design of the additive formula, physical properties, and the scorch characteristics of vulcanized rubber. In the silica rubber compound, diethylene glycol, polyethylene glycol, and organic amine accelerator SL are added. However, excessive addition of more agents can lead to scorching, so more attention should be paid. The amount should be based on the standard of diethylene glycol and 60% polyethylene glycol (molecular weight 400) relative to silica, with organic amine accelerator SL at 2.5%.
In terms of blending management, despite many studies discussed above, if we still cannot prevent scorching, scorch inhibitors (vulcanization time delay agents) can be added. Vulcanization delay agents are organic acids such as anhydrous phthalic acid and benzoic acid, nitroso compounds, and phthalic anhydride synthesized organic compounds. Due to the environmental pollution of nitroso compounds, they cannot be directly used in light-colored rubber products.
At the same time, the scorch agent for rubber roller mixing rubber also slows down vulcanization, as it reduces the degree of crosslinking, and it is not widely used. According to experience, this amount should not exceed 0.4%. If it exceeds 0.4%, the amount of the first vulcanization accelerator should be reduced. This method should not be used with high accelerators or high scorch inhibitors.
